The Teams
Hurricane Dikta (5*) - "(Hurricane Ditka) likes his Glazed Nuts." - Scott Hanson, 2021. Joined in 2005 and "Commissioner-izing" the IFL since 2016, the Atlanta-based Hurricane Ditka team is a 5-Time League Champion. Three of these championships awarded the team the coveted Glazed Nut, in 13 total playoff appearances. The Canes have reached the Championship game two additional times, and finished in third place in five other seasons. This team has set the longest win streak within a single season in 2020 with 11 and is the first to achieve a "Towelie Turkey", also in 2020. The Ditkas consecutive playoff streak of 8 seasons ended in 2021, and aplayoff game win streak of 11, which lasted from 2017 to 2022. In 2023, the Ditkas became the second franchise to join the Continental Club.
The Real Jerks (3*) - The lone Californian in the IFL, The Real Jerks have 9 playoff appearances, and are 3-Time League Champions. The Jerks are ran by one of three league OGs that started playing fantasy football in 2005. 2021 was a special year for The Real Jerks, as the team brought home its first Glazed Nut. This team also has two second place finishes, one of which made them the inaugural winners of the Banana Trophy. The Jerks are also the league's first member of The Continental Club. As a lowlight, however, the Real Jerks hold the record for lowest point total in a single week with 43.66 in 2016.
DBS (2*) - Ah yes, the team without a name. Team DBS joined the league in 2011. From Atlanta, DBS has made the playoffs four times, including a league championship in 2016. 2021 was the first season that DBS has finished in the Power Bottom Four of the league, narrowly avoiding becoming the Donut Hole. DBS also tied the league record for most The Griffins in 2021. However, 2022 was a bounce back year for the Nads, bringing home his first Glazed Nut (that he couldn't eat) and second title overall.
the blue whales (1*) - "Scrub." - Scott Hanson, 2021. Throwing proper capitalization to the side, "the blue whales" is an OG since 2005. With five playoff appearances, the team earned a championship in 2013, and two third place finishes in team history. That's the good, however, there is also definitely a flip side of the coin. The Indiana-native "the blue whales" has records in futility with the most weeks spent as The Donut Hole in a season (12 in 2018) and tied for the number of times scoring the fewest points scored in a single week (6 in 2018), for which the distinction was from then on renamed after him. In 2023, the Blue Whales shamefully brought home its second Donut Hole in as many seasons. His count of five all-time is a league record.
Caution on the Play (1*) - Joining the IFL for the 2022 season, another Atlanta-based team has entered the field with Caution on the Play. I am confident that the Cautioners have the only IFL manager that also participates in Fantasy NASCAR. In its sophomore season, the Players shook up the IFL world by vroom vrooming to the Glazed Nut in the fastest amount of time after joining the league.
Fighting Flapjacks - The Carolina-based Fighting Flapjacks joined the league in 2010. The Jacks have made the playoffs four times, achieving one second place finish in this span. The eternal struggle to land the Glazed Nut is real, and being a rival breakfast food may secretly be holding these pancakes back.
The Plain Greats - Another Atlanta-based team, The Plain Greats have seen a lot of success in the IFL. The team has made the playoffs every season since its inaugural 2017 season, aside from an appearance in the Power Bottom Four in 2020. The Greats have now received two Banana Trophies for second place finishes in 2019 and 2022 respectively, and has a third place finish, as well.
Consolation Kings - The Indiana-rooted Consolation Kings were formally added to the IFL in 2018, but did have one appearance dating back to 2006 (where the team finished in last place.) The Kings have just one playoff appearance that occurred in 2020. The team also set the all-time league record for the highest points ever scored in one week in 2020. However, 2023 was a season of infamy for the Kings. The team went winless throughout the regular season. The first team to ever lose every single game and the IFL's first 13 week losing streak. Amazingly, the Consolation Kings avoided going winless for the entire season and the Donut Hole by challenging the blue whales to "one vs. one" finale.
Hurtsylvania - The Philly QB-loving Hurtsylvania joined the IFL in 2019. The Atlanta-based team is known to make a roster move or two. In the team's first IFL season, Hurtsylvania made the playoffs as the top overall seed. However, the team didn't make the podium and continued to tumble all the way down to the Power Bottom Four in 2020. In 2021, the Hurtsy's were the regular season champs, along with having back to back Third Place finishes in 2022 and 2023, however, still no hardware for the Sylvesters.
T-MAFIA - The table-breaking, beer chugging, Atlanta-raised T-MAFIA finished its first full season in the IFL in 2020, after a guest appearance in 2019. In 2021, T-MAFIA was able to advance into the playoffs and finish with winning record, both for the first time in the IFL. 2022 was a difficult season for T-MAFIA, narrowly avoiding the Donut Hole in the last game of the season. 2023 saw a return to the playoffs, however, the team is still searching for its first playoff victory.
Shark Divers - What is known about Shark Divers? Well, this is a team from, you guessed it, Atlanta. The Shark Divers dive with sharks! Team management will tell you about it, just ask! Lovers of water-based experiences, the Sharts narrowly missed the playoffs in 2021. Instead, the team went on devastating playoff losing streak and has been crowned the Donut Hole for the season. 2022 and 2023 looked to be promising bounce back years, finishing in the top half of the league in both seasons.
Beginner's Luck - Located in Detroit, Beginner's Luck is the IFL's most junior member, having joined 2024. Time will tell what kind of pedigree these Eph-ers bring, but if the team's closest ally is The Shark Divers, the rest of the IFL knows there's little to be concerned about.
